眾所周知,托福聽(tīng)力喜歡考察speaker的emotion or attitude。簡(jiǎn)單來(lái)說(shuō),就是考察:

1.speaker對(duì)于他人所言的直觀感受

比如,feel surprised ;feel intriguing ;feel worried等;

2.speaker對(duì)于他人所言的回應(yīng):

比如,agree with;給出具體回答等
而同學(xué)們?cè)谧鲞@類(lèi)題時(shí),大多都是通過(guò)“speaker語(yǔ)氣起伏”來(lái)直觀判斷的。比如:

1.speaker的語(yǔ)氣充滿(mǎn)了驚訝:uh???
2.speaker的語(yǔ)氣里充滿(mǎn)的懷疑:do you???
3.speaker的音量升高

但是,所有的態(tài)度類(lèi)考點(diǎn)信號(hào)都是從“語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào)變化”里出來(lái)的嗎?當(dāng)然不是,今天我們就來(lái)講一講不屬于語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào)變化類(lèi)型的情感態(tài)度類(lèi)考題,我們應(yīng)該在文章如何預(yù)判這類(lèi)考點(diǎn)?托??荚?/a>

通過(guò)轉(zhuǎn)折詞判定

小Tip:請(qǐng)大家認(rèn)真聽(tīng)轉(zhuǎn)折詞,并抓取到轉(zhuǎn)折詞前后的信息意思。

常見(jiàn)轉(zhuǎn)折詞:

but & yet & however & on the contrary & despite & still 等

What does the woman imply about her parents when she says this:

A. They would have preferred that their daughter play sports.
B. They attended math nights for their daughter's sake.
C. They regarded math nights as competitive events.
D. They were asking a lot of questions at math nights.

“But they were good sports.”這個(gè)句子,語(yǔ)氣并沒(méi)有明顯的起伏;且這里所提到的“sports-運(yùn)動(dòng)”似乎和上文里反復(fù)提及的math nights沒(méi)有關(guān)聯(lián)?,F(xiàn)在我們來(lái)梳理一下前文:

conversation的開(kāi)頭:

1.math nights program:

kids and parents一起play math-based games and do math-related activities

2.學(xué)生被問(wèn)及對(duì)math nights感受:

Love math nights & good at math

以上信息過(guò)后,重聽(tīng)題提問(wèn)。

簡(jiǎn)化一下這里的邏輯關(guān)系,請(qǐng)大家?guī)臀蚁胂耄旅孢@個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu)當(dāng)中的sth應(yīng)該偏向于什么意思?

I loved math nights + I didn't have a problem with math
Did my parents enjoy it?But + sth

可以推出,Sth約等于My parents didn’t enjoy math nights as me

所以,我們做題時(shí),應(yīng)該往相應(yīng)的情感色彩上去選,排除D,因?yàn)楦改覆⒉粦?yīng)該show much interest。并且,不應(yīng)該選到“sports-運(yùn)動(dòng)”這一本意。因?yàn)樯舷挛木鶝](méi)有講到運(yùn)動(dòng)相關(guān)話題,所以這里的sports不是本意,而是在一個(gè)詞組中的固定搭配,因此排除A和C。最終選擇是B。

最后我們來(lái)積累一個(gè)新表達(dá):Someone is a good sport:
Someone to be good-natured or amiable despite unpleasant circumstances

結(jié)合context,父母可能并不enjoy這類(lèi)活動(dòng),卻陪著她參加:為了自己女兒才參加的這類(lèi)活動(dòng)。

總結(jié):回想重聽(tīng)句所在的context,通過(guò)but/however/yet推斷情感傾向。

通過(guò)result判定

小Tip:請(qǐng)大家抓取“學(xué)生提問(wèn)”,聽(tīng)清問(wèn)題后,需要pay attention to“教授如何回應(yīng)”。

接下來(lái),請(qǐng)同學(xué)們聽(tīng)下面這份音頻的0’’-3’06’’,然后做題:

Why does the professor say this:

A. To invite the student to disagree with her
B.To encourage the student to think more about the subject
C.To remind the student that the material was already covered in class

分析:

why don’t you tell me是個(gè)問(wèn)句,單從問(wèn)句出發(fā),可以有很多種解讀,沒(méi)辦法下結(jié)論。

要弄清楚“提問(wèn)人的intention”,首先需要回憶起這個(gè)問(wèn)題前面是什么,也就是學(xué)生的問(wèn)題:So, what happened? I mean, why don't we still do this now? 學(xué)生提出問(wèn)題后,教授反問(wèn),意思偏向“應(yīng)該由你來(lái)告訴我答案”。

再往后,教授一步一步提問(wèn):學(xué)生:為什么現(xiàn)在的人們,不像過(guò)去那樣,晚上睡兩次呢?

教授:What are some major differences between life in, say, 17th century, England and life here now?

學(xué)生:我不會(huì)像過(guò)去的人那樣,睡那么早

教授:But don't you ever start to feel tired around dusk? Darkness is one of the biological triggers of sleep which will get into a little later.

學(xué)生:會(huì)困的,但是室內(nèi)并不昏暗。Oh, that's it. They didn't have electric lights back then.他們那個(gè)時(shí)候沒(méi)有照明。(過(guò)去沒(méi)有照明,所以會(huì)在黃昏時(shí)困,因此要睡兩次;現(xiàn)在有照明,不會(huì)在黃昏時(shí)刻犯困,因此只要睡一次)

由此,在教授的一步步提問(wèn)下,學(xué)生自己得出了答案。從最終結(jié)果,反推出教授說(shuō)“why don’t you tell me”的目的是:在啟發(fā)學(xué)生,鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生多想想,選擇B選項(xiàng)。

總結(jié):重聽(tīng)題為“提問(wèn)”時(shí),可以回憶一下這個(gè)提問(wèn)的result,從result來(lái)反推question目的。
